OUR TEAM

Renee200pixA Holistic Veterinarian with experience in both small and large animal practice and emergency medicine, Dr Renée O'Duhring has witnessed time and again the plague of ill-health affecting our modern day pets, as well as the reluctance of many Vets to believe that diet, lifestyle and over-vaccination may be contributing factors. The vision for Roar Kingdom came out of Renée’s experience and her belief that the health of many pets could be vastly improved, and many medical conditions prevented, by nourishing the pet with a wholesome diet, and with health & lifestyle products that improved the pet’s quality of life. With additional training in Veterinary Homeopathy and Chinese Veterinary Herbal Medicine, and extensive study of veterinary nutrition, Renée has the background and experience required to uphold Roar Kingdom's goals. Dr Renee is also the Holistic Veterinary Expert for 'Dog's Life' magazine and Holistic Vet Author for Ezine Articles.  She strives to live a pure and gentle life more connected to the earth and its creatures.

Michelle200pixMichelle Southall has been committed to the success of the business since its conception. Michelle is a qualified Veterinary Nurse, and has been working in clinical practice since 2003.  Over this time she has been exposed to a myriad of health conditions affecting pets in our modern day. She is devoted to animal well-being, and has the passion and commitment necessary to bring Roar Kingdom's vision to fruition. She is extremely efficient and organised by nature, and thus brings necessary skills to a successful business partnership!

OUR PETS

MiyukiMiyuki the Maremma has been Renee’s canine companion since she was adopted as a 7-week old puppy in 2004. Miyuki enjoys raw bones, stuffed kongs, long walks on the Birubi Beach sand dunes, being chased in circles, pretending to be a horse so her toddler playmate can ride her, and playtime with her neighbourhood canine friends.

MoniqueMonique the Moggy is Renee’s feline companion. Monique was a scraggly newborn kitten rescued by a workmate in 2008 and hand-raised. When she became ill with diarrhoea and faecal incontinence as a result of coccidiosis, Renee fostered her, and of course she never left. Her favourite pastimes are playing fishing frenzy, rollerball, chasing her 2-legged human baby through tents and tunnels, basking in the garden, climbing bamboo screens, pretending to hunt birds on the Perspex roof above her backyard play area, and carrying cocus palm berries around in her mouth to periodically bat around the house or garden. She is the master of invention and is constantly coming up with new games to entertain herself.

ChooksRenee is also the proud guardian of five laying hens - Sophia and Fleur de Lis, the Pekin bantams, Ash Wednesday (a rescue from a fire who was dropped on Renee's doorstep after being attacked by a dog), and two big layers. Her chickens enjoy dust bathing, being hand-fed grain, the neverending search for worms and green pick, kisses and cuddles – especially Sophia!

KaneKane (pictured) & Kia (camera-shy) are Michelle’s sibling Alaskan Malamutes that have been her canine companions for more than a decade.  They grew up with Michelle's daughter, and were always on their best behaviour when trotting beside the pram. They are certainly in their geriatric years now, but are still very healthy and enjoy long walks around our beautiful blue water wonderland.

SophieMichelle is also the proud part-time owner of Sophie, a retriever cross who is the mascot for the vet clinic Michelle works at.  Sophie spends most weeknights at Michelle's place, and weekends with the Vet.  Sophie enjoys greeting anybody she meets with unbridled exuberance, and wrestling matches with soft toys. Oh, and food. She is definitely a foodie!

BatmanBatman Returns is Michelle’s male feline companion, a black and white moggy with a permanently startled look. He has a sweet, laid-back nature, and enjoys gazing at birds outside the window.

PoppyMary Poppins Super Dude (aka Poppy) is the latest furred addition to the Southall family.  She is a sweet, grey, domestic short hair who was one of a litter of kittens dumped outside the vet clinic where Michelle works.  Michelle, together with her husband and daughter, hand-raised the kittens, and found homes for all but the sweet little grey girl who decided to stay put.

Together, we are the Roar Kingdom team. Pleased to meet you. We hope you and your creatures share our dream of nurturing a healthier and more joyous planet! Please read our holistic vet testimonials page for comments from some of our Holistic Vet, Dr Renee's, clients. Some have attended dietary workshops, and some have walked the path of holistic veterinary therapies with Dr Renee.
